Because of the walled-in condition of the house, the vertical surfaces are perceived incrementally from the entrance to the interior courtyard where long surfaces extend between the interior and the exterior reintroducing the possibility of facade, inside out. Correspondingly, material treatment with flush ashlar and shutters emphasize this frontality.
