The primordial design task was to understand the existing lighting condition. A quick light-meter reading immediately provided the need and location for skylights. The diagrams on the left articulate the layered approach to the project, from top to bottom: the theater cluster counteracts the load bearing wall, the three clusters get populated with a variety of rooms, the skylights are articulated, the floor pattern weaves but does not dictate paths, and the final combination of all layers.
